Hi, My name is Hoss.
A few years ago, I retired as a school principal and started a new venture. I teach at an adult high school in Canyons School District. While my teaching assignments shift from year to year (horticulture, history, government, GED Prep, etc…), my passion is bringing the world of growing things to interested groups of people. As a former school principal, I know there is keen interest in gardening. However, planning, creating and maintaining a personal garden can be intimidating. I think I can help
In addition to teaching in a couple of smaller greenhouses, I grow three to four thousand seedlings in my basement. While most of my plants are donated to various community groups or planted in my yard in Draper, Utah, I do make some plants available for purchase out of my driveway at
14996 S Manilla Drive
Draper, UT 84020
I am pretty busy with school projects until Mother’s Day. So, until then, I will be available to fill orders on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. until 5 p.m, or by appointment.
I specialize in “hard to find” heirloom tomatoes and peppers that do well in our climate. They are all “hardened off, " so they tend to adapt quickly to transplanting. I sell about 30 different varieties of tomatoes and 30 different varieties of peppers and chilies. I also usually have a few herbs available, but they tend to go very quickly. Check my information pages for the variety names and descriptions.
Foodscaping
Foodscaping is the term used for landscaping, but for the specific purpose of planning and growing a garden. If you are interested in planning, planting, or irrigating a home garden, I can probably help.
I am in the process of setting up community gardens for the Spring and Summer of 2024. I have already committed to a number of projects for May and June. So, if you are interested in looking into the possibility of setting up a garden, community garden, school garden, or Spring plant sale, contact me via email or text.
